Local Television Show Highlights The Kimberbear

On March 2, 2020, the Studio 5 television show out of Salt Lake City, Utah, covered the Kimberbear on one of their segments. Kris Thurgood, owner of My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe, was a guest on the show and explained the process of making and donating Kimberbears to children in crisis:

“I think there are so many people out there who want to feel like they are able to do something to contribute. And this is just one small way of doing it...you can do it whether you have a sewing machine or an embroidery machine, so quilters from all over are loving this because they get to choose the kind of machine they want to stitch it out on!”

When asked by the host if most communities have been on board with this initiative, Kris responded:

“Oh my goodness. Yes. This just debuted on Valentine’s Day and there are people from all over the world making them! We’re seeing pictures coming in already and it’s just the sweetest minute there is. You can do it on your own, or you can find your local quilt shop and find out if they’re having events [where people come together to  make the bears].”
