Introducing Kimberbell Longarm Quilting (PLUS Free Design)!

In addition to the background quilting files we (continually!) create for home embroidery machines, Kimberbell has now also started digitizing files for longarm machines!

Why Longarm Quilting?

Kimberbell has many tried-and-true ways to do background quilting on home embroidery machines. (Learn more HERE!) So, with systems already in place, why digitize for longarm machines now?

The answer is simple: MORE OPTIONS.

Kimberbell Longarm Quilting does NOT replace our Clear Blue Tiles or Block-by-Block quilting. We will definitely continue digitizing for these methods (and with as much enthusiasm as ever)!

But there’s a place for every quilting method. Longarm Quilting is just one more tool in your creative toolbox! Choose the right tool for your specific project and you’re on your way.

Three Camps 🏕️

The fact is, you probably fall into one of three camps. (Which of the following is YOU?)

You're already a longarmer and are thinking, "YES! I finally have access to Kimberbell designs for my longarm machine! Hooray!" OR...
You have a home embroidery machine AND a longarm machine, in which case you'll use Clear Blue Tiles for smaller projects and your longarm for large quilts. OR...
You have a home embroidery machine and not a longarm machine at all.

If you fall into the third camp, you can now purchase a Kimberbell Longarm design, take it to your longarmer, and have them finish your large project with the "Kimberbell cute" quilting you love.

Design Types

Let's explore the different file types that make up Kimberbell Longarm Quilting, starting with Edge-to-Edge designs.

Edge-to-Edge Designs

An Edge-to-Edge design connects and repeats to create a continuous row. When stitched row over row, this design forms an allover quilting pattern across the entire quilt!

But that's not all. A lot of times, your Edge-to-Edge purchase also comes with a free Block design!

Block Designs

Block designs are made to fit within a defined quilt block. In the illustration below, you'll see the Edge-to-Edge design on the left and the Block design on the right.

As you can see, in the Block design there are no connecting tails that would lead to the next design (like there are in the Edge-to-Edge design). It’s all contained in the block!

Block designs can be custom quilted as individual blocks or repeated across the quilt, as desired.

PDF Instructions & Resource Guide

Also included in your download is a printable PDF sheet with the design image and specs, so you easily keep track of which longarm designs you have in your personal quilting library.

You’ll also receive the Resource Guide, which explains how to use your longarm files with all of the full-color details you've come to expect from Kimberbell.

Other Design Options

But that's not all. There's a LOT more fun in store because we’ll also be offering other design options for an even greater creative experience!

Block Motifs

You can also purchase a Block Motif with a single element. Block Motifs can be used as an accent for individual blocks OR combined with other Block Motifs for a custom quilting layout.

Border & Corner Designs

And the fun keeps going, because we also offer Border and Corner designs (sold as a set)! Border designs include either a continuous Edge-to-Edge border or a repeating block-style border.

When used with coordinating corner designs, you'll create a framed finish around the outer edge of your quilt, like so:

Please note that Block Motifs and Border and Corner sets are separate purchases.

Resizing Capabilities

By the way . . .longarm files are scalable vector files, which means you can use your quilting software to easily size your design up and down.

The design quality will not change as its scaled. (This resizability opens up a whole world of possibilities, doesn’t it?)

Identifying Longarm Designs

So . . .how can you tell which designs are Kimberbell Longarm Quilting? It's easy: they'll always be shown in a purple color, like this:

Kimberbell's color system makes it easy to identify the various quilting options:

Light Blue for Clear Blue Tiles (Dark Blue for Large-Scale)
Orange for Block-by-Block (Yellow for Large-Scale)
Grey for Borders (Light Grey for Block-by-Block and Dk. Grey for Clear Blue Tiles)
Purple for Longarm

Please also note that Kimberbell Longarm Quilting comes in ALL of the formats, so they'll work on any longarm machine.
